PLAN YOUR VISIT

The CCHS maintains two buildings: the Monon Depot Museum and the archives building. Both are located on the Monon Greenway one block south of Main Street. The Museum’s address is 211 First Street SW. The archives are located directly south of the museum. Parking for both facilities is available in the public lot just east of the museum along the Monon Greenway.

To reach the museum and archives, take Range Line Road to 1st Street SW. Turn west and drive two blocks. The parking and the society facilities are on your left immediately before crossing the Monon Greenway.

Archives

The archives is open Monday through Thursday from 9am to 2pm.

Monon Depot Museum

The museum is open from April 16th through October 31st on the following days:

Fridays 5 pm to 7 pm

Saturdays 1 pm to 4 pm, and 6 pm to 8 pm every second Saturday of the month

Sundays 1 pm to 4 pm

* The museum can also be opened for tours on Mondays and Tuesdays when the archives is open. Special tours and large groups can be scheduled in advance by calling 317-846-7117 or e-mailing eehrgott@carmelclayhistory.org.

Admission

Admission to the CCHS museum and archives is free, though donations are accepted.

Special Tours

Special walking tours of Old Town are offered on demand for groups, including class reunions and families. The 45-minute tour will take visitors through the streets of Old Town where guides will show historic photographs of locations, comparing what was there with what is there today. These on-demand tours cost $20. Contact the CCHS office at eehrgott@carmelclayhistory.org or 317-846-7117 to schedule a tour.
