CCHS Tea: Saving the McShane Home from the Wrecking Ball
A full house joined us on April 16th for the Springtime Tea Luncheon. The feedback regarding speaker Emily Ehrgott’s presentation on the restoration of the McShane house was resoundingly positive! Many people’s interest was piqued after viewing the house on the Holiday Home Tour.
The historic 1886 McShane home stood gloriously for more than a century. After several rentals of the residence, it fell into disrepair and was on the verge of being demolished. Emily took us through the almost two-year process of purchasing, stabilizing, renovating, and restoring this historic home and shared photographs of the house before and after it was restored, as well as some of the artifacts they found on the property during their project. If you were unable to attend the Luncheon, you can read about the restoration on Emily’s blog.
During the Luncheon, Hilda Hadley was presented the Heritage Award. We were happy to recognize Hilda’s service and involvement in our community. We are pleased to count Hilda among our members!
