June 1, 2012
The DVD “Carmel: Lifelong Residents Look Back” shown at the Springtime Luncheon is now available for sale in the Monon Depot Museum. Cost is $10. The DVD shows a compilation of video recorded oral histories given by some of those who have lived in Carmel their entire lives, including the late Phil Hinshaw and Harold and Irmina Kaiser. The residents talk about attending the Carmel Centennial celebration in 1937, recollect rides on the Interurban and Monon, and share stories of life growing up in the small town with fewer than 1,000 residents.
The Depot is open Fridays and Saturdays from 1-4 p.m. and Sundays from 2-4 p.m. DVDs can also be purchased on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the CCHS office, just south of the Depot, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. DVDs can also be mailed if you live out of town. Call 317-846-7117 for more information.
